We are currently dishing up about 150 containers of soup with slices of bread twice a week in Blikkiesdorp and once a week in Walesdene. We wish to thank our sponsor Schoongezicht for their faithful donation.
GLP has recently partnered with a sector of the community and has started a “veggie garden” project aimed at a two-fold outcome. 1. Involving youth in plant growth has proved internationally to be highly therapeutic in poverty areas, and 2. Provide fresh produce to be used in the soup kitchen. We are so proud of our first harvest.
GLP are also currently conducting a “pilot” re-cycling project which is aimed primarily at younger youth to coach and promote work ethic and to create a point system where youth can exchange their earned points for school and hygiene products at our exchange “shop” once a week.
